Mama Cried – Talia Haven

4/5 Heartbreaks

On The Back:

Jenny was enjoying herself on the swings when Azula, one of the guardians of the playground came to take her away.
Together they journey to a cinder building where Jenny must make a powerful decision.

My Thoughts:

*I received a free copy of this short story in exchange for an honest review from the author*

This book started off as a carefree book, in the opening scene a young child and her friends are simply swinging, seeing who could go the highest, but it turns into a more thought-provoking story as it goes on. Talia Haven does a very good job of continuing to create a carefree setting then morphing it into a deeper, darker, more mysterious setting without giving away all of the rest of the story. I enjoyed this story, and the ending was completely unexpected for me. It really makes you think about right and wrong and how we handle justice.
